Speech and Debate, or forensics, is a competitive activity where students participate in individual or partnered speaking and debate events. Pine View members compete at different tournament levels across multiple local, regional, and national circuits. In addition to attending weekend-long state competitions at the novice and varsity levels, we attend single-day, monthly ‘locals’, tournaments hosted by member schools of the Florida Gulf Coast Catholic Forensics League (FGCCFL). Pine View competes at annual invitational tournaments on the National Speech and Debate (NSDA) national circuit, including Yale, Harvard, Florida Blue Key (UF), Sunvite (NSU University School), and the Tournament of Champions (TOC) in Kentucky. Our competitive seasons culminate in late spring at out-of-state NCFL and NSDA national tournaments, which offer our qualifying students the chance to champion their events! Although everyone has a unique path and experience in speech and debate—regardless of the level or frequency one chooses to compete—participation leads to personal growth, lasting memories, and essential life skills for Pine View students!
